AWPC
was incorporated in
Tallahassee
in 1985 as part of the pregnancy center movement. The original
board of AWPC felt the urgency to confront the plague of abortion in our
state and city with the power of truth and the Gospel of Christ.
Currently one out of three pregnancies are aborted in Leon county and the state of
Florida
. AWPC exists to offer loving and workable alternatives
to the choice of abortion. To that end we relocated in the fall of
2005 to the heart of the most abortion vulnerable population in the
city, just off
Florida
State
University
campus and one mile from Florida A&M. Forty-five percent of
abortions are done on university age women. Guttmacher Institute
estimates that 10% of America's university female population becomes
pregnant each year. That would be 2,000 women at FSU, 1,000 at
FAMU and about 600 at TCC.
Our ministry aids women and men as they
become equipped to make a a life-affirming decision. Our center is dedicated to
protecting the lives of the unborn as well as serving the needs of the
mother. We feel a great obligation to serve 'both' of our clients
as we counsel in a private and confidential setting.
Lifeline is the newsletter and radio ministry
of AWPC in Tallahassee Florida. The Lifeline newsletter is
